One hour from Paris, the charming medieval town of Ferrières-en-Gâtinais offers calm, leisure in a preserved environment.

Former religious capital of the Gâtinais, Ferrières owes its birth and its name to iron ore which can be found in the valley of Cléry. For more than a thousand years, saints, popes and kings have stayed in this peaceful little town by the river.

The town grew up around its majestic Saint Peter and Paul Benedictine abbey. If we attribute the construction of the first basilica to Clovis, it is to King Dagobert that we owe the rise of the monastery at the beginning of the seventh century.
